Trade Union Subscriptions
If you were a member of a Trade Union at any stage, you can claim a tax credit for that Trade Union membership subscription.
Example Tax Year 2009
The tax relief available is at the standard rate of tax, currently 20%.
An annual flat rate allowance of €350 is available for Trade Union subscriptions paid in 2009. The full allowance is available annually regardless of the actual amount of the subscription paid.
Therefore you will be entitled to a tax refund of €70 (€350 x 20%).If you have not been granted relief for subscriptions made in 2009 or previous years, Irishtaxback.ie will claim this tax back for you.
